Upcoming Album Releases →
T.I. — “No Mercy” (Dec. 7)
It’s been one tumultuous year for Atlanta-based rapper T.I. After his release from prison late last year, he seemed poised for a comeback, releasing the well received “F—k a Mixtape” and two promising singles, “Get Back Up” and “Castle Walls,” from his upcoming album, “No Mercy.” That all tumbled...

So Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs is up against Lady Gaga (The Fame Monster), Eminem (Recovery), Katy Perry (Teenage Dream), and Lady Antebellum (Need You Now) for the 2011 Album of the Year Grammy… I’m already ready for disappointment if they don’t win, but I think they’ve got a definite chance.
But then, Steely Dan beat Radiohead’s Kid A back in 2001, so I...

Kanye West, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" →
(10 of 10)
Kanye West is a controversial man, to say the least. Over the last half-decade he has embedded himself into popular culture with incident after incident, making few friends along the way (just ask George W. Bush, Taylor Swift or even Matt Lauer). Running alongside his less-than-phenomenal public persona, however, is a music career that time and time again proves to be exceptional. If...

This video is… a lot to take in, but that’s par for the course with Arcade Fire. Much like the band’s work, it’s equal parts chilling and beautiful, and it tends heavily toward the dystopian. It’s well worth a look.

(5 of 10)
Seven months ago, when announcing the title of his latest album, “Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager,” Kid CuDi told readers of his blog that the new album “is dark by nature, and instead of bringing you into my dreams like my first album, im bringing you into my reality. good and bad [sic].” Certainly, “The Legend of Mr. Rager,” released...

Matt & Kim, "Sidewalks" →
(6 of 10)
Matt & Kim, a Brooklyn-based duo whose latest full-length album, “Sidewalks,” is on sale now, sell a particular brand of pop-and-dance punk. The duo’s music is the musical equivalent of skipping down the street chewing bubble gum with a huge smile. It’s fun, engaging and marked by a pervading sense of innocence and optimism.
The opener, “Block After...

Great song and accompanying video
I think college applications inspire a sort of optimistic insanity… I am (literally) losing sleep and spending hours applying to schools like UNC and Brown, but I can already tell you what their response will be. At least now I have a convenient (and valid) explanation for the impending rejection letters… Thx summer 2k10. Seriously, though, UNC is due on Monday, and I’m freaking...
